Some Funny Happenings...

Hello, all! I just wanted to update you on some funny happenings going on here lately...

The most recent is concerning our cockroach problem. It's not the little ones, oh no, it's the Big Kahuna's!!! AHHH!!! These are some SERIOUSLY GIANT tree roaches!! They are at least 2-3 inches long with antennae that are the length of their nasty beetle-y bodies. YUCK!!!! I have seen the occasional one around the house, but recently they have been trying to "Beetlejuice" me out of my own home! Two days ago, I was lying on the couch watching tv (waiting to get sleepy for the night) and in the dim light of the living room lamp, I see a shadow crawl across the room...EEEWWWWW!!! It was a HUGE 3-inch roach!! AHH!!! I finally found a shoe nearby and smushed the dweeb. Yesterday morning, one had the audacity to come out during the daylight and walk in my living room! Oh no he didn't! I found another shoe and got a close up of his bug guts. Then, I went to the bathroom and saw (thankfully a dead one) in there by the toilet! AHHH!!!!

The icing on the cockroach cake happened last night...
Keep in mind that Steve's average day is 13-14 hours of hard work so he comes home so tired...he's a trooper!

Steve had gone to bed pretty early last night. I stayed up to finish the latest DVR-ed episode of Burn Notice (I love Michael Westin!). I decided it was time to hit the hay so I went to the bathroom first (to save me yet another trip during the night). As I open the door to leave the bathroom, round the hallway, and go to our room, I see the spawn of Satan just waiting for me in the top corner of the ceiling right outside the bathroom--READY TO JUMP ON ME! His stupid ugly eyes were seriously having a stare-down with me and his nasty antennae were waving to and fro. He was HUGE!! He had to be the twin of the late night livingroom crawler I killed the day before. AHH!!! What was I to do?! I tried to find something big enough to throw at him to make him move (he was seriously gonna jump on me if I walked out the door) but small enough to not make a loud noise and wake Malachi up...all I could find was a thing of dental floss.

I threw the dental floss at him and it just misses him. He didn't even flinch! Stupid roach! I try to call Steve's name out (the bedroom door was SO close and it was open) but he is the world's heaviest sleeper. I knew he would most likely wake up to his cell phone buzzing so I was an evil wife and rudely awakened my sleeping husband. He answered the phone without a word and I said, "I'm trapped in the bathroom. Come out into the hallway. There's a HUGE roach that's gonna jump on me!" He, of course, was VERY cranky and confused, but stumbled out of bed regardless. He knocked the roach down, killed it with a paper towel, threw its body away, and saved the day! Yay for my HERO!!!!

That's the latest happenings around here. Unfortunately they all involve roaches. (I can handle ANY other bug in the world...roaches are my kryptonite!)

So if anyone knows some GREAT roach-ridder stuff, please pass along the name!!!

cringing,
molly

  1. We have had the same problem in our house too. You are better then me, you know me and that I'm not a screamer but when I see a roach I turn into a 12 year old girl screaming and jumping up and down. If Austan is in bed I will yell and yell till he drags his half asleep body to come and save me. I don't do roaches dead or alive. If they are dead I'll put something on top of them and run out of the room in case they are playing dead and wait for Austan to come home and pick them up. What was God thinking!
