Wow.
Since our last two posts, we have been taken to a completely new level of humility. One Mission is still struggling financially while we are desperately seeking out volunteers to come and serve. It's hard being a volunteer-funded organization (especially during the "slow season"). But, the staff at One Mission continues to thrive in their ministry efforts on the island. While they don't have the man-power to physically do the work on homes right now, they are doing assessments each week for homeowners new to our database who are just now reaching out for our help. They are also broadening their ministry scope here on the island. Steve's been having a couple of different meetings a week with different ministry opportunity connections on the island and it is beyond refreshing to see that "ministry spark" back in his eyes! I think we all let stress get in the way for a little bit.
While we still have no promise of a paycheck past this Friday, we are holding on to the hope that we claim as our own: God will provide. He will provide the means for our family to make it financially. He will provide the volunteers we need to support the Mission and continue to rebuild the island. He will provide!!
Please continue to pray for us. Some days are great, strong-in-our-faith days, and to be honest some days are really tough. (Granted, my pregnancy hormones don't help!) But, to look at the innocent and pure trust that Malachi has in us (he doesn't bother worrying about, well, anything) is testimony to the true childlike faith we are called to have in our Savior.
Baby Zeek update...
This past weekend was my baby shower in Katy. Susan Pitman, Jamie Anderson, and my two sisters Dana and Rachel threw an incredible shower full of honest love for me and my family. It was a great time dedicated to celebrating the incredible blessing that Zeek is and will be to our family! It was great to have everyone I love in one room and to just hang out and relax!! Yay for relaxing!! (The incredible cookie cake that Susan made certainly enhanced the experience!) I got to peek at Zeek at my last check-up and he is currently head-down and ready to go! I am 35 weeks today and we are still scheduled for a c-section (for medical reasons) on October 25th at 12:30pm!!!!! I received all sorts of blessings at my shower (including God's hand protecting my mom in a wreck on the way home) and can't wait to hold my sweet baby!!! I spent last night putting together the last piece of furniture for his room and Steve's mom, Kathy, was kind enough to come entertain Malachi yesterday while I got to work organizing the chaos that is the nursery. Malachi is thrilled with Zeek's room simply because he thinks it's his second bedroom. Haha! He might have a hard time sharing (especially sharing mommy and daddy) when his baby bro gets here, but looking at his compassionate heart, I know he was made to be a big brother! He will do great!
I go back to the doctor weekly now (only three more visits until Zeek's here!!!) and will certainly keep you updated! I will definitely be packing my bag soon just so there's no surpirses! :)
Unworthy of this calling,
Molly
