movements, mo-hawks, and more!

Well, we are definitely settled in from being gone for 2 weeks. It's so much nicer right now with Steve's work schedule being more flexible ("normal" hours as opposed to 16 hour days)...but unfortunately, that means there aren't volunteers right now. As much as Malachi and I love and cherish more time with Steve, there is still such a great need on the island. The last estimate was 20,000 homeowners still in need of our help. That's a tall order to fill when volunteers are scarce. So, as I always urge...we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ and if you haven't found an outlet for you to do so yet, please come down to Galveston--even for a day--and love on some hurting people and their homes!

Enough of my rant...

I am learning a LOT about God's provision. The fact that we are "missionaries" is often overlooked (by me especially) since we're "only in Galveston". But, our current financial needs are kinda my wake up call to rely even more so on the God who has promised us the desires of our hearts. My desire is not stress, so why do I let it creep into my heart and steal my joy?? Grrrr! I need your prayer to stay focused on the goal: to see people fall deeply in love with Christ...and to be willing to do whatever is necessary to make that happen. Steve is currently ministering daily to the other staff members. We have 3 interns, 3 other full-time workers, and are hoping to bring on a full-time Project Coordinator asap. Seeing Steve's heart first and foremost for our God is insanely uplifting to me and then seeing his love for Christ play out in his love for people is convicting for me to do the same.

Please continue to pray for us as we are stepping closer and closer every day into welcoming our new son, Zeek, into our family. We are still set for October 25th for my c-section...it's so soon!!!! Ahhh!! We still have a ton to do but I'm really trying not to feel overwhelmed with it all. Having a baby is such an indescribable experience that I refuse to let get cloudy with "details". :)

Oh, and if you're wondering what I meant by "mo-hawks", I will explain: Steve just gave Malachi his first mo-hawk!!! It's a real one this time...no "faux" necessary. As soon as I can get a picture, I will certainly post it! Oh, and "movements"...can anyone who has been pregnant before please tell me if it's normal to feel sharp, stabbing, incredibly painful pains randomly in your cervix-ish area?? It tends to happen when I've been standing for a little while. It's really weird and I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow because seriously, it's painful when it happens. Granted it's only a few seconds, but sometimes they come right after another....ouchie!! Anyways, if you've been preggo before, please let me know if my body's nuts or not. Thanks!!

  1. as far as the pains, i asked levin the same thing when i was pregnant with drew. she said it's totally normal when pregnant with your second. your body is so much different than when you're pregnant with your first, so there are a lot more pains, cramps, weird feelings, etc. totally normal!!!
